Joyful Workflows

- A Lifestyle & Work Life That Works

“How can I get stuff done and feel joyful, complete and satisfied everyday?”

THE CONUNDRUM:

Getting things done in your business and life while keeping your sanity, lifestyle, recreation, joy, family, personal and friend time has become quite a challenge for most people.

The Small Business Administration found that entrepreneurs who prioritize balance see 25% more business growth over five years compared to those who work all the time.

It seems like the more successful you want to get, the busier you become, resulting in even lower levels of efficiency and satisfaction.

The very business we give birth to, out of passion, meant to bring us joy, can become the source of unhappiness, frustration, fear, guilt and resignation.

I believe I have a Joyful Solution for this conundrum.

What do you get in this Joyful Workflows program:

Nothing Forgotten.

Everyday Complete.

A Flow Experience Daily.

Greater Productivity.

More Free Time Or Optional Time to Create Better Things.

A System and Way of Working Designed For You.

What does the Joyful Workflows Comprise:

An Efficient Customized System &

Masterful Mentoring Guidance

What does the Joyful Workflows program provide?
  1. Transformative insight leading to breakthrough results and a ‘relaxation’ or dissipation of the effects of fear, guilt, resignation and frustration - Frequent Dialogue with a deeply experienced masterful coach
  2. A system customized (designed) to your needs and style - that creates more flow and ease in your business and your life.

Most programs provide either # 1 or #2 above. If they provide coaching, the coaching is not done frequently enough to cause powerful breakthroughs. If they provide a system, it is usually not a design that is customized

Who is the Joyful Workflows program for?

People in business - business leaders, business owners, entrepreneurs, solopreneurs etc. who are experiencing the symptoms outlined below.

Why and How does it work - in a nutshell?

In the late 1980s when I started working as a Design Engineer, I had the good fortune to be mentored unofficially by some super talented and experienced German engineers who taught me the value of good design.

They would say to me.

“Sunil, you can design a Mercedes Benz type of system that works very well and perfectly for the user… or you can have no design .. or a bad design.. And have a Yugo (not a very good car) type of system that can make things worse.”

Good Design -> A Well Designed ‘Mercedez Benz’ Business

No Design / Bad Design -> an ineffective business

Good design:

I start by talking with you about your life and your work - why it is important to you, how it is important to you and more. I also help you uncover what you are more likely to get done and that will put more money and satisfaction back in your pocket. Armed with this knowledge, I design a system that works for you.

But it does not end there.

Refinement of the system, till it works and works well:

I continue to talk and work with you on a frequent basis every week to implement the practices and habits around the system with you. So you get used to it and we can adjust to make it work better for you.

If necessary, I help you work with your team to work the system so that it works well for you to produce the results you need.

The need for a well designed Dashboard - one place to direct all activity, make clear decisions and store data:
  1. Having a well designed dashboard for your business and life is like having a well designed dashboard in a well designed car. It gives you just the right amount of information to steer your business, yourself and your team effectively and efficiently towards the results you want and intend on having.
  2. The Joyful Workflows system provides you with such a dashboard.

HOW TO WORK WITH YOUR BIOLOGY … NOT AGAINST IT

As you read this section, you will start to see how important it is to have a system and set of practices that work with your biology, psychology and ontology (i.e. who you BE) and NOT against them.

  • YOUR BRAIN BANDWIDTH IS MORE CRITICAL THAN ANYTHING ELSE:
  1. Most of your day to day work involves decision making and focused or creative work.
  2. The part of the brain most responsible for these kinds of work is called the PFC (prefrontal cortex).
  3. The PFC is not efficient.
  4. Whenever you multi-task or make a decision, your blood glucose level drops (measured in science based research. Refer to the work of Dr. Roy Baumeister).
  5. This is a big problem for two reasons.
  6. Firstly, glucose is used to make neurotransmitters - critical for the basic functioning of your brain.
  7. Secondly small drops in glucose cause the brain to shut down or slow down the PFC, resulting in greater chances of you making errors, bad decisions and not being able to withstand the distractions that come your way.
  8. So your ability to focus and get work done goes down a lot. You need a system and set of practices that work with your biology, not against it.
  9. Most systems (time management and project management systems) out there do not do this.
  10. Even if you have a team, your ability to lead and manage must account for all these points of brain efficiency above so that you do not overwhelm or underutilize your team.

  • LESS IS MORE:
  1. GETTING THINGS DONE RIGHT AND WELL WITH FLOW: Based on the previous paragraph, focusing on fewer items per day, week or month leads to fewer errors, greater flow of productivity and more satisfaction with less stress.
  2. LESS WORK, MORE RESULTS: This does not necessarily mean that your results slow down. It means that you will end up doing less work and get more results.
  3. THE ISSUE YOU WILL NEED HELP WITH: How to pick the things you need to focus on? Most of my clients find this challenging. What has worked is after or as they have more dialogue with me (part of the program), they get super clear, super fast on what to focus on and what they can safely (with no reservation) delay or get rid of.

  • JOYFUL ZEN FLOW vs. MANIC/PANIC/FRANTIC/HECTIC:
  1. Aiming to get at least a chunk of your projects done daily is a good strategy, but rarely practiced.
  2. Aiming to Be Complete vs. Aiming to get ALL of Something Done is a good policy. Complete may look like a chunk of the overall project in one day, rather than the whole thing.
  3. Most things are not required to be DONE right away
  4. Spreading out the joy of your work out over time in chunks, will teach you to spread out your work in smaller chunks per day, giving you more ‘choice’ or free time.
  5. The source of unnecessary upsets most people have daily, is rooted in creating unrealistic expectations.
  6. If you do less and spread the joy i.e. If you have realistic and workable expectations, you will
  7. Avoid Unnecessary Upsets/ Disappointment
  8. Avoid training yourself to have disappointments daily leading to you giving up any notion that your life is disappointing.
  9. THE ISSUE YOU WILL NEED HELP WITH: How to chunk down big projects reasonably and without guilt into smaller chunks? This can be complicated if you try to figure it out yourself.

  • THE QUALITY OF YOUR BUSINESS, WORK & PERSONAL LIFE IS A FUNCTION OF MANAGING PROMISES WELL - HOW TO GET TO FREEDOM?
  1. Your work and life = involve fulfilling promises to others and yourself.
  2. I.e. the Efficient Fulfillment of your promises.
  3. There are two components of promise management:
  4. Your projects and
  5. Your calendar.
  6. Your Projects are simple to complicated organized endeavors with a clear specific set of objectives (promises) within an established timeframe that can yield worthy results.
  7. Your Calendar reflects your usage of time and a means of fulfilling your promises.
  8. Projects need to coordinate with Calendar. They rarely do. My system will do that, so that you have a clear indication of how much time you need to spend on work and how much time on play.
  9. A packed calendar (an ugly calendar) is a calendar that causes stress.
  10. A calendar with clear and realistic work times and clear and plenty free times, creates the opposite of stress - Joy. And it is productive as well.
  11. An unrealistic calendar leads to unfulfilled expectations -> leads to unnecessary upsets.
  12. It is imperative to have free time on your calendar but still manage realistically the amount of time needed to get things done i.e. keep your promises.
  13. The more free time you have, the more you will have the experience of Choice and Thus, Freedom.

  • YOU AND YOUR TEAM BEING JOYFUL & EFFICIENT
  1. Most teams (e.g. admin teams) are not fully utilized.
  2. Admins generally complain about their bosses not giving them enough to do, because their boss is too overwhelmed to determine what the priorities are and where the focus should be.
  3. Bosses mostly complain that admin teams are not doing their job or make too many mistakes. A majority of bosses complain that they themselves are too overwhelmed to direct their team effectively.
  4. The root source of these issues are usually all of the above points discussed PLUS not having a system that efficiently and easily delegates tasks, keeps track of the progress and holds the admins accountable in a graceful yet effective way.
  5. My system does that and more.

"It disarmed me. I had nothing to really worry about."

"Working with the Joyful Workflows System along with the frequent insightful dialogue with Sunil about how to philosophically, strategically and meaningfully direct my focus has truly been the most rewarding mentorship I have ever had.

I started the program with my business decently serving clients that I loved, but I was behind, overwhelmed and stressed out about how to manage parts of my business that I loved to do and parts that I resisted.

Sunil, with his infinite patience, helped me uncover the primary 'knots' (unresolved decisions, ideas, strategies etc.) that I had to untie, which immediately led to other 'knots' to be untied. This led to a freedom and peace of mind that I had never had before.

It disarmed me. I had nothing to really worry about. Once I got over the strange feeling associated with having nothing to worry about,

I started asking the question with him - what should I really focus on now?

Sunil helped me create a digital dashboard on my computer that helped me to easily start tracking all the things that I now knew were important.

This process helped me uncover financial freedom, more than sufficient cash flow and income to create a breakthrough level of confidence in myself and my business and a level of excitement about the future that I have never thought was within reach - until now!

I am very grateful for what is being produced in working with the Joyful Workflows program."
